SwaRail APK Not Working?
Comprehensive troubleshooting guide to fix common errors, crashes, and login issues.
Why Does the App Experience Glitches?
The SwaRail Super App handles millions of concurrent users booking tickets, tracking trains, and making payments simultaneously. During peak hours (like Tatkal booking at 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM), the Indian Railways CRIS servers experience massive traffic loads. This can occasionally lead to timeouts, OTP delays, or app crashes on user devices.
Below, we have compiled the most common issues reported by users and how to fix them quickly.
Common Issues & Solutions
â ī¸ App Crashing or Not Opening
Symptom: You tap the SwaRail icon, but the app immediately closes or shows a black/white screen and becomes unresponsive.
â How to Fix:
1. Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > SwaRail.
2. Tap on Storage and select Clear Cache.
3. Ensure your Android System WebView is updated via the Play Store.
4. If using an older beta, download the latest APK version.
âī¸ OTP Not Received / Login Delay
Symptom: You enter your mobile number for registration or login, but the SMS OTP never arrives, causing the session to time out.
â How to Fix:
1. Check if you have an active SMS pack; DND (Do Not Disturb) settings might be blocking IRCTC shortcodes.
2. Wait at least 2 minutes before requesting a "Resend OTP".
3. Avoid logging in during Tatkal rush hours (10:00 AM - 11:15 AM) if you are just setting up a new profile.
đŗ Payment Failed but Money Deducted
Symptom: You tried booking a ticket via UPI or card. The app said "Transaction Failed" but the money was debited from your bank account.
â How to Fix:
1. Do not panic. Check your R-Wallet inside the SwaRail app. Often, failed transaction amounts bounce directly to the wallet.
2. If not in the wallet, the payment gateway will auto-refund the amount to your source bank within 3-5 business days.
3. Check the "Failed Transactions" history tab for tracking.
đ UTS Geo-Fencing / Location Error
Symptom: Trying to book a paperless local ticket, but the app says "You are inside station premises" or "GPS Location not found."
â How to Fix:
1. Ensure your phone's Location settings are set to High Accuracy.
2. You must be within 5KM of the station, but at least 15-30 meters away from the actual railway tracks/platform.
3. Disable any "Mock Location" or VPN apps, as the app's security will block ticket generation if it detects location spoofing.
Generic Fix Checklist
If you are facing an unlisted bug or a persistent server error message, run through this quick checklist:
- Check your Internet: Switch between Wi-Fi and Mobile Data to rule out ISP routing issues to CRIS servers.
- Storage Space: SwaRail requires at least 50MB of free space to run smoothly without freezing.
- Android Version: The app is optimized for Android 5.0 and above. Very old devices might face compatibility issues.
- Disable VPNs: The Indian Railways database actively blocks traffic from foreign IPs and commercial VPN servers to prevent bot booking.
Still Need Help?
If you have tried all the steps above and the SwaRail app is still not functioning, the backend servers might be temporarily down for scheduled maintenance (often happening between 11:45 PM and 12:20 AM IST).
